Hi, I'm Dottie Love. My husband Tom Sale and I are college art and computer graphics teachers. We discovered the Miniature Zebu breed 10 years ago and are very attached to our herd of 15 on 25 acres south of Dallas, Texas. We have 10 calves a year for sale.

A few years ago we bought a Gir Heifer. Gir are a dairy Zebu Breed about 50" tall. there's fewer than 150 in the US. We're crossbreeding her with our Mini Zebu bulls to create a 45" Milking Zebu.

In 2004 I helped to establish the American Miniature Zebu Association and serve as a Vice President. Our mission is "Education, Promotion, and Preservation of the World's Smallest Cattle." We put on a lot of educational seminars and shows--in a few short years we've become permanent attractions at the Houston Livestock Show, the State Fairs of Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, Florida and Arizona, and venues in Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas.

I'm an amateur "Applied Animal Ethologist," a person that studies the behavior of domestic animals. I try to learn everything there is to know about the Bos Indicus subspecies--sure, they're still cows, but so different., in their intelligence and sensitivity. It fascinates me to observe their herd dynamics and individual quirks. I'm totally hooked on their beauty; as an artist I enjoy drawing and painting them.

There are cheaper animals around, and also more expensive. My prices are moderate, especially considering their wonderful dispositions. All my animals are registered Foundation Pure with the American Miniature Zebu Association, and some are double-registered with the International Miniature Zebu Association.

Our cattle have excellent breed character and conformation. We usually only sell calves; my herd is extremely close and stable. As a result my calves remain calm and adapt easily in their new homes.

Our herd is the tamest and calmest of any around this area. I have multiple generations in my herd and can tell you everything about them and show you pix of their siblings. You won't find that with breeders that are constantly buying and selling cattle, moving them in and out. Cattle don't like change; it makes them really nervous.

We also give support, advice, and info to my buyers, and stay in touch long after the sale. Bigger breeders are very busy --they just can't give you personal attention. We're very lucky to have careers to support our hobby.
